Nominations/Eligibility
We are using the romantic/sexual interpretation of the word "ship," so gen relationship nominations will not be accepted for this exchange.
Relationships including more than two people are eligible, including relationships of three or more people that include a smaller, less rare ship. For example, Thor/Loki is not eligible because it's not rare, but Jane/Thor/Loki is rare and would be eligible.
Crossover ships with other canons or other parts of the MCU are not eligible for this exchange. Ships involving mythological or Marvel comics characters who have not appeared in the MCU are also not eligible.
Ships involving original characters are not eligible. However, ships involving unnamed but distinct characters from the movies (for example, the actor playing Loki in Loki's play) are allowed. Make your best judgment about what to call the unnamed character(s), and we'll post on the comm if we need clarification.
You can edit your nominations as long as they haven't already been approved by the mod.

Nominations/Eligibility
- The tagset for nominations is here. An AO3 account is required.
- You can nominate up to 20 relationships per account. This is the AO3 limit; feel free to nominate with additional accounts if you need more.
- All ships will be nominated under the same fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- Everyone in the ship must have appeared in a cosmic MCU movie, which for our purposes are Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1 and 2, Thor 1-3, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange. The members of the ship don't have to have appeared in the same movie; for example, Valkyrie/Nebula would be accepted. However, Valkyrie/Shuri would not be accepted, because Shuri hasn't appeared in one of the movies listed above.
- Ships must have less than 400 total works on AO3. Here are the ships we know of that would not be eligible. This list may be added to later.
- Thor/Loki
- Clint/Coulson
- Jane/Thor
- Bruce/Thor
- Darcy/Loki
- Gamora/Peter Quill
- Bruce/Clint
- Loki/Sif
- Darcy/Clint
- Frigga/Odin
- Clint/Loki
- Carol/Maria
- Jane/Loki
- Bruce/Darcy
- Grandmaster/Loki
- Kraglin/Yondu
- Thor/Loki
Signups
- Signups will be open from November 12 to November 22 on AO3.
- You can request 2-50 relationships (1-5 per request slot). You can request fanfic, fanart, and/or fanvids.
- You can offer 3-50 relationships (1-5 per offer slot). You can offer fanfic, fanart, and/or fanvids.
- You are only guaranteed to match on one character/relationship and one medium (fic, art, or vid).
- Please include anything you absolutely don't want to receive (Do Not Wants) in the Optional Details field in your AO3 signup. In the event that a DNW is included in your gift, only reasonable DNWs noted in your signup will be enforced.
- Optional details may be included in your signup in order to give your gifter further details on your likes and dislikes. This is optional.
- Dear Creator letters may be linked to in your signup in order to give your gifter further details on your likes and dislikes. These are optional.
- If you are unmatchable as a creator (i.e. no one is requesting anything you are willing to create), the mods will contact you when signups close and ask you to add more offers. If you do not reply within 24 hours, your signup will be deleted.
- If you are unmatchable as a recipient (i.e. no one is offering anything you are requesting), your requests will be posted to the Dreamwidth community for claiming as a pinch hit (see below).
- You can edit or delete your signup as long as signups are open.
Assignments
- You are only guaranteed to match on one relationship and one medium (fic, art or vid).
- You must create a fanwork that matches your recipient's requested medium (fic, art, or vid) and one of their requested relationships. The romantic or sexual nature of the relationship should be clear in the fanwork you create. You are expected to respect your recipient's Do Not Wants as stated in their signup on AO3.
- Fanfiction must be at least 500 words, finished, and stand-alone (i.e. not a sequel to a fic you've written before or part of a series).
- Art should be a finished piece of drawn art - this may be done by traditional or digital means, but should be original art, inked and/or colored. Art must be an original work created entirely by you. Graphics and manipulations cannot fulfill an art request.
- Vid must be at least 1 minute long.
- You can write/draw/vid a relationship you did not initially offer if your recipient requested it.
- Assignments are secret: do not talk in public about who you're writing/drawing for until author reveals (you can of course discuss it with, for example, a beta reader).
- You cannot change your assignment. If you have received an assignment that does not match any of your offers, contact the mod immediately.
Posting Your Work
- Post your finished fic/art/vid on AO3 by clicking on "Assignments" on your AO3 dashboard, finding your MCU Space Ships assignment and clicking on "Post to fulfill".
- You can post your work at any point between receiving your assignment and the deadline. Do not repost your work elsewhere (e.g. on tumblr) before reveals.
- Do not link to your tumblr or other personal account in the notes to your work.
- You can edit your work after posting it.
- A saved draft does not count as a posted work. Make sure you have actually posted your work by the deadline.
Defaulting
- If you cannot finish your work, find your assignment under "Assignments" on your AO3 dashboard and click on "default". If you want to default, it's better to do it sooner rather than later, because it gives us longer to find a pinch hitter for your assignment.
- If you default and your creator defaults as well, you will not be assigned a pinch hitter.
Pinch Hitting
- Information about pinch hits will be posted on the Dreamwidth community.
- You can claim a pinch hit even if you aren't signed up for the exchange, but you will need an AO3 account.
Treats
- You may write/draw/vid additional fanworks for your recipient or other participants and post them in the exchange collection as treats. To do this, navigate to the exchange collection, click "Post to Collection" and manually add the recipient's AO3 username in the "Gift this work to" field.
- You may write/draw/vid fanworks and gift them to the exchange collection, as long as they're about one of the nominated ships. This is a good option if no one requested a nominated ship you're interested in, or if there wasn't a request that fit the kind of fanwork you wanted to make. The more rare cosmic MCU ships, the better!
- Treats do not have to fulfil the minimum requirements.
- You can post treats even if you aren't signed up for the exchange.
Bad Behavior
On very rare occasions, we might find it necessary to ban someone from future exchanges. Behavior that may result in a ban includes:
- Turning in an obviously ineligible work for your assignment (incomplete, plagiarized, etc).

'Actor Who Plays Thor/Actor Who Plays Loki' is cracking me the fuck up, I can imagine Loki-as-Odin being WAY too into directing them....(I also love the crack headcanon that everyone sussed out Odin was Loki early on and just went along with it because hey, more funding for the arts, and orgies.)

I clicked on "assignments" but there's nothing there. What should I do?
It's now app. 8:45 Pacific Time on the 17th. I'm going to be offline for the next three days. If I hear back from you tonight or first thing in the morning with directions I can go ahead and post. Otherwise, the earliest I'll be able to do it is on the evening of the 20th.
I'll send you an email as well.
